About
Artist’s Statement – Vivien Ayres
Vivien is inspired by the Impressionist’s use of colour and light and brings this into her own work.
She creates a diverse range of work from ceramics, to oils on canvas and print.
Viv uses clay as a canvas – making her own ceramic pastels, to create her own palette to paint and draw.
Viv’s work draws heavily on nature for colour and form.
Since 2011 Vivien has run Cheltenham School of Fine Art, an independent school of painting and
drawing in Cheltenham.
Her recent work is inspired by the seascapes and fauna of Tresco in the Isles of Scilly.
Vivien studied Ceramics & 3D Design at Central School of Art in Holborn, London.
After working and teaching in Texas, Louisiana and Nigeria, Vivien taught ceramics, art and design at Pittville Art College in Cheltenham & Gloucestershire College.
